Job brief

Responsible for ensuring the front office is running smoothly by supervising office staff, hires, terminates, and trains front office employees, and oversees the preauthorizations, denials, and billing portion of the office. As a medical front office manager, you should demonstrate excellent organizational skills and the ability to perform well in stressful situations.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring front office staff consistently provides strong, professional customer service and communication in registration and scheduling
  • Monitor insurance preauthorizations and denials
  • Supervise front office staff including registration, scheduling, and patient accounts, etc.
  • Maintain medical and staff records
  • Liaise with doctors and medical manager to identify potential office dysfunctions
  • Ensure compliance with current healthcare regulations, medical laws and high ethical standards
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, policies, and procedures
  • Responsible for verifying accurate cash collections on-site for services rendered daily
  • Learns and understands the cost/profit for cases performed at the center
  • Recommend hire, enforce terminations, and train front office staff
  • Oversee billing, coding, and collections: work with and monitor performance of third-party coding, billing, and collecting vendor(s) on areas of timely and accurate coding, charge capture, cash flow, days in accounts receivable, etc.
  • Schedule appointments
  • Submit claims to insurance
  • Delegate responsibilities
  • Assess and communicate employee performance
  • Develop and implement office policies and procedures

Requirements and skills

  • Proven work experience as a medical office manager, at least 2 years of front office management experience
  • Knowledge of administrative processes and principles
  • Ability to handle medical records discreetly
  • Knowledge of medical issues and terminology
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and perform well in stressful situations
  • Communication skills and a customer service orientation
  • BS degree in Healthcare Administration, Business or relevant field
